Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green was hanged mid-sentence when a pair of reporters from a conservative right-wing broadcast network covering a rally for Pennsylvania GOP candidates Dr Mehmet Oz and Doug Mastriano saw the gubernatorial candidate arrive at the event.
Ms Green was discussing campaign strategy when Pennsylvania’s GOP gubernatorial candidate Mr Mastriano arrived on the scene.
“Traditional GOP, traditional ‘Republican parties’ generally like to keep outsiders out, but successful people, we have to keep people coming in —” Ms Green said.
One of the RSBN reporters broke away from Ms Green and tried to grab Mr Mastriano, calling him names.
“Oh,” Ms. Green said as reporters broke away and ran toward Mr. Mastriano.
Ms. Green spoke at a Wilkes-Barre rally that night, repeating Mr. Trump’s fraudulent claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him.
“Pennsylvania, you want to know something else? President Trump won the 2020 election,” he said. “That’s right, we know President Trump won.”
That claim was repeatedly debunked after several Republican-led poll attempts confirmed Joe Biden had won the election. Mr Biden eventually won Pennsylvania in 2020.
Mr Mastriano praised the former president – who has endorsed him in the state governor’s race – calling him a “champion of 9/11”. The former president famously bragged that his building was the tallest tower in Manhattan after 9/11, making his building the tallest in the city once the Twin Towers fell. That statement is also false.
Mr Trump, for his part, rambled for two hours about the FBI’s seizure of classified government documents from his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida and repeated claims that he had won the election.
Despite not officially announcing a 2024 presidential run, the former president quipped that he “could do it again,” falsely saying he “ran twice and won twice.”
