Donovan Mitchell trade rumours: Jazz are fielding offers for star guard, Knicks expected to move on

The Utah Jazz According to Adrian Wojnarowski, they have reversed course and are now willing to listen to trade offers for All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell. For the past few weeks, the Jazz have been saying Mitchell is unavailable, but that’s no longer the case.

“Change is inevitable in the NBA,” Jazz GM Justin Janik said during a news conference Saturday. via ESPN. “I’m not trying to be secretive or anything, but Donovan is on our roster and he’s a very, very important part of what we’re trying to do. Things happen in the NBA, so I can’t just sit here. Tell anybody. [untouchable]. We are trying to build a championship team, but there is no intention [to trade Mitchell]Everything.”

Earlier this month, the Jazz made a blockbuster trade that sent Rudy Gobert Minnesota Timberwolves Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Leandro Bolmaro, Walker Kessler at No. 22 and four first-round picks — three of which are unprotected in 2023, 2025 and 2027.

That trade, along with other moves like parting ways with longtime head coach Quin Snyder and trading Royce O’Neal Brooklyn Nets For a first-round pick, that means a rebuild is coming in Utah. However, to completely tear things up and start over, they would have to trade Mitchell as well. Although Jazz is still a bit wobbly, it looks like it will happen soon.

However, the question is which team will be willing to pay the price. Mitchell is coming off a disappointing performance in the playoffs, but he’s still a 25-year-old three-time All-Star who finished 13th in the league in scoring at 25.9 points per game last season. The Jazz are going to command a steep price, especially after what they got in the Gobert deal. At least one highly rated young player and draft picks would appear to be a starting point.

Madison Square Garden was a place Mitchell could go. The New York Knicks Has been linked with the Guards for the past few years and is expected to make an offer, According to Tony Jones. After trading up out of the lottery and signing Jalen Brunson in free agency, the Knicks have signaled they want to stay competitive and return to the playoffs. A Brunson-Mitchell backcourt would be intriguing, and the Knicks have much-needed draft capital and chances to land a compelling offer.

Another team to watch out for Miami HeatThose who have registered their interest, To Ira Winderman. They could use one more scorer to go along with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, and we know Pat Riley is always aggressive. Still, Riley doesn’t have a good relationship with Jazz president Danny Ainge, and it’s unclear whether a deal centering on Miami’s top young trade chip — Tyler Herro — would be enough.

Whether Mitchell ends up in New York, Miami or elsewhere, the fact that two teams have already been identified as suitors is a sign that he’s drawing more interest around the league. And for good reason. Players of his age and his abilities are not often found.
