A house explodes in Bottstown, Pennsylvania, killing four people

On Thursday night, at least four people were killed when a house exploded in Podstown, Pennsylvania. It happened just after 8pm at a house on Butler Avenue in Washington Street. Two others were injured in the blast and were taken to hospital. Their status is unknown. The cause of the blast is unknown. Police have not yet released the names of the victims. Boat Town Municipality police are continuing to investigate. A press conference is scheduled for Friday afternoon to release more information. It happened just after 8pm at a house in the Washington Street and Butler Avenue area.

Two others were injured in the blast and were taken to hospital. Their status is unknown. Two more are missing.

The cause of the explosion is not yet clear.

Police have not yet released the names of the victims.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a police station, killing at least 60 people and injuring more than 60 others.

Affected residents who need help should go to Batstown Senior High School.

The investigation is ongoing Podstown Borough Police Department. A press conference is scheduled for Friday afternoon to release more information.

Batstown Police posted the following statement on its website:

“On Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 8:07 pm, the Bottestown Fire Department, EMS and police were sent to the Washington Street and Butler Avenue area to detonate the house. Emergency services arrived at the scene to locate the house. Many victims are in need of medical assistance.

“We can confirm that there were four (4) deaths at this time and two (2) were taken to regional hospitals for treatment. We are receiving information that two (2) more may not be accounted for. EMS and police are on the scene with several outside agencies including.

“Affected residents need help go to Pottstown Senior High School on 750 N. Washington Street. The Red Cross will be on the aid site.

“This is a series of investigations. The information is still being obtained and will be disseminated as soon as it is available.

“Another press conference will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 12 noon.”
